Give the gift of safe water access for all!

This giving season, we invite you to be a part of building a safe and accessible waterfront community right here in the City of Newburgh. A donation of any amount to Newburgh Waterways Center will help make free and affordable activities on the Hudson River possible for Newburgh area residents.

In 2024, we developed new programs and expanded our community partnerships to increase water safety and environmental stewardship for families and individuals of all ages to enjoy the Hudson River. Here are some highlights:

  • Quadrupled the size of our adult rowing program
  • Launched a kayaking program and a sculling clinic
  • Hosted 100+ volunteers for a community cleanup and pollinator planting day at Ward Brothers Memorial Rowing Park as part of the May Riverkeeper Sweep
  • Provided kayaks for the Newburgh environmental justice fellows and a Riverkeeper youth kayak tour of Quassaick Creek
  • Partnered with the Quassaick Creek Watershed Alliance for kayaking on Muchattoes Lake for Creek Fest
  • Partnered with Outdoor Promise, Newburgh Wants a Park, and Healing Gardens for kayaking on Crystal Lake during the Newburgh Wants a Park celebration
  • Held our third annual haunted boathouse, which was attended by 200+ people and was the only haunted house in the city of Newburgh
  • Formalized agreement with and hosted meetings of the Coast Guard auxiliary (Newburgh Flotilla 10-6)
  • Hosted a regional scrimmage, along with a Boats and Blooms plant swap
  • Established working committees for fundraising and development, marketing and outreach, and site and facilities
  • Purchased a used two-person heavyweight scull, additional sculling oars, kayaking paddles, oar/kayak racks, and two reliable used outboard motors with donations
  • Engaged member volunteers in semiregular equipment/facilities repair/maintenance/improvement activities

We’re proud of what we accomplished this year, but much more work needs to be done to facilitate safe access to the Hudson River for the local community.

Would you support our efforts by making a donation today? Your donation will fund

  • Free and low-cost rowing, kayaking, water safety, and education programs
  • Scholarships for participants in our programs
  • Free annual community events like our Haunted Boathouse and the Riverkeeper Sweep
  • A safe, accessible destination to enjoy the Hudson River in the heart of Newburgh

No donation is too large or too small, and you are welcome to make a general donation or support a specific program of your choosing.

If you are unable to give at this time, please share this page with friends and family. In addition, we invite you to attend our events and participate in our programs.

We thank you for your support as we continue to build a vibrant and engaging destination for community access to the Hudson River on the Newburgh waterfront!
